Lesson 24 continued

Jesus told a story in Luke 16:19-31. Read this story in your Bible. It tells about a wicked rich man who would not share his food with a poor beggar.

The poor beggar was hungry and sick. He was weak from not having any food. He lay on the ground out by the rich man's gate.

By and by the poor beggar man died, but because he was a believer in God, the angels carried him to a beautiful place called paradise or heaven. Everything was wonderful there.

The rich man also died. He had never loved God or believed in his heart, so he didn't get to go to the beautiful heaven. He went to a place called "Hell."

Hell is a place that is away from God. It is hot in this place and there are flames. The rich man hurt and was so thristy. He begged for water and wondered if Lazarus the poor beggar could come and give him a drink.
