After Jesus died, His body was put into a brand new tomb, which belonged to a rich man. A tomb is like a small room carved out of a rock, where dead people were buried.

They wrapped His dead body up, and put it in the tomb. They rolled a great stone over the door. Matthew 27:57-60.

Jesus had told His followers that He would rise again the third day. Read Matthew 16:21 and Mark 8:31.

Some men were told to stand guard in front of the tomb. Matthew 27:62-66.

On the first day of the week Jesus rose from the dead. Read Matthew 28:1-4. There was a great earthquake and a angel came and rolled the stone from the door.

Jesus' dead body was laying in the tomb, God the Father through the power of the Holy Spirit caused life to come back into His body. Read Matthew 28:5-6.

The angel told the women who came to the tomb to "Go quickly, and tell, His disciples," that He is alive, verse 7.

Read I Corinthians 15:3-4. It tells us that Jesus rose again the third day. He was seen of Cephas, another name for Peter, verse 5. He was seen of 500 brethren at once, verse 6. He was seen of James and all the apostles (Jesus' disciples), verse 7. Last of all Paul saw Him on the road to Damascus. Acts 9:1-16.

Jesus is alive today and hears us when we pray. He is sitting on a throne at the right hand of God the Father in heaven, where He is praying for us. Read Romans 8:34.
