Power Outage

There have been headlines in recent months about power outages, and power shortages in the western part of the United States. It seems that people need more power than can be produced by the existing power plants. With more electrical devices (appliances, computers, etc) that need more electricity, this problem will increase. What is needed, is an unending supply of power.

These same headlines could be written about the church. There is serious lack of power in the church today. God's people are suffering a power outage or brown outs, as they call them. The difference in these two headlines is that there is no need for any power shortage in God's church. There really is an unending supply of power available to God's children. Eph 1:15 - 23; 3:20; 6:10. Col 1:11. 2Tim 1:7. 1 Pet 1:5.

I am not talking about Christians needing to get more powerful politically. Nor is there a need to move out and solve the world's problems. There is simply a need for us to lay hold of God's power in our everyday lives to overcome the enemy. The enemy is not the government, nor the corruption that exists in this world. The enemy is Satan, who would like to chain us in bondage to sin.

God has already provided the necessary power to overcome sin and the power of sin in our lives. He has provided the power to overcome the world, and the temptations of this world. Rom 6:12-14.

Why would we want to live in bondage to Satan, and the things of this world when we can live in victorious overcoming power? There is no power shortage with God.

When we look to our own power, which many Christians are doing today, then we will be faced with a power shortage. We cannot continue in our own power. We must learn to lean on Jesus, and trust in His power. When our power fails, and we suffer a `brown out', we must go to Jesus to find real lasting power.

One of the results of the power shortage in California, is an increase in the cost of power. As the demand increases, the cost will also increase. Well, I have good news for you. Increased demand for God's power does not increase the price. It is always free to God's children who simply ask.

If you are not a child of God, you are certainly missing out on the power of God. The gospel message of Jesus, who gave his life on the cross for you, is the power of salvation. There is nothing more important than finding that power in your life. Rom 1:16. 1 Cor 1:18.

Are you a child of God with a power shortage in your Christian walk today? Are you being overtaken by this world? Are you finding yourself in lack of light? If you are God's child, you have no reason to miss out on God's power. Come to Him today, and He will give you power. Don't put this off another day. Right now is the time to get renewed power for your life. Power to show the world that Jesus is what they need. Power to shine every day.
