Your EyesLast time we talked about your body, today we want to think about your eyes. Now for those of us who have our eye sight, we seldom, if ever think about our eyes or the beauty that we are able to see. The Bible tells us that we are all born in sin and we are spiritually blind. A person that is born blind in the natural cannot understand what blue is, or the beauty of a rainbow. The magnificence of the Grand Cannon. The shape of a car. Such a person is “ignorant” of such natural wonders. So is every individual who is born into this world. Spiritually we are blind. We cannot understand the things of God because Satan has blinded.. “lest the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine on them.” You try to explain the fact that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and that He came to die on the cross and all you have to do is believe on Him, and they cannot understand. Why? Because they are spiritually blind! We must pray that God open their eyes so that the light of the gospel can shine in. In the natural, light is what enables us to see. The Word of God is the spiritual light that we need to be able to “see” spiritual things. Luke 1:79 The Psalmist also declares that “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” If the light of the gospel of Jesus Christ has illuminated your heart then you can say like the blind man in John 9:25 “.. One thing I know: that though I was blind, now I see.” What a glorious thing it would be for a blind person to all of a sudden be able to see. But, much more glorious for a spiritually blind to receive his eye sight! Even as a believer, though you have received light enough to see your need of a Savior, you may still be blind. The Apostle Paul, writing to the Ephesians in 1:18 prays that “the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints..” You see, there is always more for us in the spiritual realm. “Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him.” 1 Corinthians 2:9. Do you desire to know more about your Savior? Please don’t think, because you can see a little, that is all there is. God would show you so much more. It is God’s perfect will for your life that you would “see” more truth each day. The disciples of Jesus were blind to many things that Jesus taught them. But Jesus said that they would understand once they received the Holy Spirit. You too will understand the things of Christ once you have received the fullness of the Holy Spirit. With the Apostle Paul, we pray that God would open the eyes of your understanding. RC |
