          Ol’ Jonah

(From the fish’s point of view)

On a fateful day Ol’ Jonah sailed away,
    he was running from the Lord.
He did not like the ninevites
    so he disobeyed God’s Word.
What he did not know, swinning down below
    was part of a fishy plan.
Soon a big fish would get his wish,
    he would finally catch a man.

Now the big fish said to Jonah,
    I only eat fish and worms;
And you’re no fish,
    this I wish my tastebuds to confirm.
In fact you’re a little bit bitter,
    and this I’ll have to say;
Though you wiggle and squirm, you’re no worm.
    Because worms don’t disobey.

On the third day, the big fish swam away,
    Ol’ Jonah was still on board.
Down in the belly of that fish,
    he was praying to the Lord.
He began to kick, the old fish got sick,
    he said you little twerp
Your better be still you’re making me ill,
    I think I’m gonna BURP!

Jonah landed on shore and he waited no more
    to go on down the road.
Everywhere he went he cried REPENT,
    his burden was a heavy load.
From the King on down, people fell to the ground
    and cried out to the Lord.
So hear what we say, if we only obey,
    God WILL FULFILL HIS WORD!
