I'm OK, You're OK

There was a book written some time ago with this title. It was a psychology book intended to analyze people. Unfortunately, the author does not take into account any Biblical truth. The truth of the matter, is that: I'm not OK, and you're not OK. We need something, someone, to make us OK.

Much of life seems to be about being accepted, or acceptable to others. Many of the things we do are because we are searching for acceptance from others. It is notable to me that few seem to care as much about being accepted with God than they do about being accepted with their peers.

Paul tells us in Ephesians 1:6, that we are accepted in the Beloved. That is, we are accepted with God in Jesus. No matter how hard we tried, and what we might do, we could not make ourselves acceptable before God. God made us acceptable through the death of His Son Jesus.

This acceptance by God does not mean that we are to go on doing the things that displease God. The fact that God would give His own Son for us should cause us to seek those things that please Him. We are all human, and have failings, but God wants us to come always to Him for forgiveness, and acceptance through Jesus.

I'm not OK, and you're not OK, but in Jesus, we are accepted. What a great salvation we enjoy. How wonderful to know that, though the world (peers) may not accept us, God does in Jesus. You can quit trying so hard to be accepted by the world, and enjoy your acceptance into God's family.
